About the Role
We’re looking for a commercial leader to join a design & innovation company on an exciting growth journey. As each of their products reaches final development stage, they create a spin out company to manage the product launch and build an independent business. Therefore you will have the opportunity to lead on the commercial start up for one (or more) of their innovations, making it an ideal role for someone who enjoys driving growth in the early stages of the entrepreneurial journey.
The immediate spin-out business that this role will focus on offers a range of innovations for the production and use of a product treating mental health disorders including depression, PTSD, anxiety and ADHD. Products will be available for international export, with the prototypes currently in late stage development. As the Commercial Director leading on this new business launch, you will have the option to lead this through and continue the growth journey with this business, or recruit someone to hand over the leadership to, in order for you to lead the next spin-out journey.
This business has funding secured for the next 9 months of development, and is preparing for the 3rd round of funding which this person will lead on with support from the Co-Founders.
What will you be doing?
Working with the leadership team to identify and win further funding in future funding rounds.
Building a business plan and setting timescales, costs and resources for the business.
Creating plans for each stage of the business growth, starting with the product launch strategy.
Mapping future team development, initial key hires, and identifying the best talent to join the business as it expands.
Hiring and managing a team to scale the business and lead it to profitability.
Managing the day to day running of the business, selecting partners to assist as required.
Building relationships with potential key partners, and getting key stakeholders in the room.
Negotiating with suppliers, partners and contractors.
Constantly monitoring progress, quality and costs.
Identifying longer term opportunities to expand business through potential mergers, partnerships and new markets.
Representing the organisation at functions, meetings and industry events to build awareness of the brand and mission.
Building pitch decks to communicate the business story to investors, partners, customers.
Reporting regularly to investors about progress.

Previous experience of commercial leadership within a start-up environment.
Experience of securing seed funding and further rounds of funding.
A natural relationship builder with high emotional intelligence and a talent for external stakeholder engagement & management. Able to work with all stakeholders in the most effective way to speak the truth and adapt communication styles for different audiences.
A team-oriented leader who enjoys collaborating with others, open to ideas and an inclusive approach.
Clear, engaging communicator with ability to get people on board and bring them along on the journey.
Enjoys the fluidity of a start-up journey, and energized by the opportunity to build a new business for an exciting innovation that will transform lives.
